Another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday!!

Welcome to another week and we are just a few days from Christmas now!  To celebrate I created this Merry Christmas wall hanging,  I saw this on a blog as I was browsing through the internet.  I wish I could give credit to the site where I originally saw an altered record but I remember thinking that it would be a super fun project to make.  The most complicated aspect of this project was in making all the flowers... well more time consuming then complicated really as they are quite simple to make but WOW are they ever pretty!  Here is the completed project.

This project came together really quickly as the most time consuming portion of the project was creating the flowers... although creating flowers is my favorite part and being able to cut out the layers and petals with the dies takes alot of the tediousness out of creating your own flowers at home!  I think I went a little nuts on the close-ups but the flowers turned out so pretty... who knew that puffy paint finishes off homemade flowers so nicely.  Here are the close-ups.

The centers of the poinsettia flowers were diamond type gems I used my copic R59 to die the gems.  I think they look as though they were manufactured this way!

When creating the roses I turn the center the opposit way so that when I create the bud the stamping shows.  It makes all the difference.  The carnations centers are 4 smaller flowers folded in fourths and glued in the center of the larger petals.  I think this gives a fairly realistic carnation.

Well here is the project once again... What do you think?

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!

Happy Heartfelt Creations Wednesday!

Today I get to share with you another page... This is from another picture that Linda so generously sent me to play with!  How can you not be inspired when playing with these pictures to Thank you Linda!!

I love the way the title turned out!  I started with raw chipboard letters and painted them in ivory, once that was dry I added some distress ink to the top and bottom of the letters and stamped the flourish on each letter.  A thick coat of Tim's Crackle Accents and voila!  I just love the end result!

Here are the letters on the actual page!

As always you can find the write-up on how this layout was created on the Heartfelt Creations Blog.  This will be a short post since I've been working all night and forgot to pre-schedual the post... sorry about that!  All the flowers were created from this releases carnation flowers... These are awesome, I just love how many different types of flowers you can create from the one set!  Well here is a few close-up of the flower cluster...

and one more just for good measure...

Well thank you for stopping by!  Make sure you check out what the rest of the team came up with!  The projects are all incredible once again!  I am truly blessed to be working along side all these wonderful artists!  Have a great week!

The pictures were sent to me by Linda, this is Emma Lou and her darling husband!  They are such an adorable couple!  I was so inspired that I just had to play with this one first!  I have a few more so stay tuned for some more of these wonderful photos!  So I used the Scalloped Posy die in a few different ways on this, the flexibility of these dies are amazing!  Here is a close-up of the gorgeous flowers I created!  I love making my own flowers!

LMCB #63 - Earth Tones and Sepia!

Wow what a fun challenge we have in store for you this week... Lasting Memories is challenging you to use a sepia photo and use only earth tones on your layout!  I hardly ever scrap with Sepia photo's I don't know why I guess I just don't think about it but as it stands I had recently printed the PERFECT photo for this challenge!  Here is the story...
A few months ago I was lucky enough to go see one of my favorite Canadian bands!  The Trews!  They played up north in Cochrane no less!  It gets better!  They were staying in the same hotel as us and as luck would have it on the same floor... Now I really love there music and so I was super excited and a little star struck... lol!  OK so they are not Nickelback but in my opinion they SHOULD be!  Me and my darling boyfriend... who thinks I'm nuts (debatable) went for a walk around town before the concert and we ran into a few of the guys from the band so I just had to get a few shots!  Here is one of me and Georges with the guys... I only had a disposable camera with me I know... gasp so the picture was not the best... after playing around in Picnik for a while this is what I came up with!  An old salon type picture which I seriously LOVE!

I was also inspired by the color board are Color Combo's Galore this week.

Here is the page...

I really had a lot of fun putting this page together!  I used alot of layers, alot of inks and mists and paint!  Fabrics and anything else that I could find!  Can I just say this is one of my favorite pages that I have create in a while and it doesn't even have flowers on it... well except in the top corner I used some modeling paste and a stencil to add a little extra dimension on this project!  Here is a close up of how that turned out!

Here are a few more close-ups of all the different layers and embellisment...

Well I hope you will join us this week and create a project... Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Happy Heartfelt Wednesday!

Well It is that time again and I am so happy to be able to share a few projects with you this week! I doubled up on my DT duties this week as the theme this week at  Lasting Memories is to use the word "Cherish" on your layout... I found a fabulous sketch at Let's Capture These Sketches... The swirls on the sketch just screamed Heartfelt Creations to me so I had to follow along... I got out some Glitz papers and started playing around.  It felt great to play with flowers again.  I may have gotten carried away but I just love the way this page came together.  Here is the layout I created this week.  As always there is a step by step on how to create both these projects on the Heartfelt Creations Blog.

And here is a close-up of one of the flower cluster...

Aren't these flowers so cute!  I just love the way they came out... so here is the second cluster created with these gorgeous blooms!!!  And the best part Easy Peasy!!  These were so quick and simple to create... I love making my own blooms because I know they will match my layout perfectly everytime.

Now a quick look at the title work...  I had a little trouble with the title... I must have switched it around my page a dozen times and it looked out of place EVERYWHERE!!  Finally I settled for on the picture and I think it looks pretty good there!

For my second project I created this super quick Christmas treat basket.  Works perfectly to hold a few candies or... mini candy canes would look great in here as well.

and from the side...

Well thank you for joining me again this week!  Some quick news about the November HC release.

It's Wednesday again!

Welcome to another Happy Heartfelt Wednesday!  I'm so happy to be sharing this super cute and super fun layout with all of you today!  I fell in love with the sketch over at Sketchabilies... as soon as I saw it I just new that it would work perfectly with these new christmas stamps that I am COMPLETELY in love with!  They are just way to much fun to play with and color!

Of course you can find all the details on how to recreate this page for yourself and of course this includes the copic markers that I played with... Here I am getting ahead of myself again!  Here is the page!

I love these old photos of my baby... she looked so sweet... of course she is still so sweet but I miss having a little one that is completely dependant on you... It seams to me the years just fly by way to quickly!  How I would live to slow down time.

I think that for me the key to being able to combine all these stamps is simply to use the exact same markers on all the different elements that way is all sort of feeds off of each other as opposed to competing for attention!  I really love the way this all came together...

Here are the individual images

Well I hope that you enjoyed seeing my project this week and don't forget to see what the rest of the designers came up with!  You are definately in for a treat!  Don't forget next week we will me unveiling the next collection of MUST HAVE stamps!  I hope you will stop by and check them out!

Thank you for stoping by my blog just remember we are half way through this week!  I personally can't wait to get through this week!

Chow for Now!!

LMCB #58 - Recipe Time with a Twist

Well it's a brand new week and I'm so excited to share with you a brand new projects this week and I really hope that you will join me and playing along with this amazing recipe that Kare has cooked up for us!

This week we're challenging you with a recipe:
  • (1) photo - Mine is is my daughter learning to skate
  • (2) embellishments of choice - I've gone for flowers (of course) and lace
  • (3) colors of choice - I've followed the swirlyhues pallet and sketch for this one... going for a Yellow, Blue and Brown scheme.
And if that was not enough as a twist we'd like to see SONG LYRICS of YOUR choice, somewhere on your layout!!!  Mine was easy as soon as I picked out the picture that I was going to play with I couldn't help signing Everyone needs a Hand to Hold on To by John Mellancamp!  I just adore that song!

Here is how this page came together...

Check out the Introduction to Swirlyhues on the Swirlydoo blog for details on how you can join in to the fun too!  I tried my best to follow the story board...

Did you know that Yellow and Blue make Green!  I know that in kindergarden but when I started playing around with this page I somehow forgot this very important peice of information and that is how I wound up with the green in the edges of the paper... somehow the more blue I tried to add to the corners the more dark the GREEN became!  Oh well you can't win them all!  Here is a pic of the flower cluster.  I started with a vine and added a few roses to fill it in... as always I have a have a hard time stoping once I've started... LOL

Well that is it for me!  Thanks for stoping by and I hope you have as much fun with the recipe as I had!  I look forward to seeing what you come up with!  Thanks for looking and I hope you have a great week!!

Chow for now!!

LMCB #55 - It's All In Black and White

Good morning,

Well it's Sunday and we have a brand new challenge for you over at Lasting memories this week.  I really hope that you will come out and play with us!  I had so much fun last week visiting all the entries and there were some AMAZING entries!  Actually they were all fabulous!  This week we're asking you to do your entire layout (inc'g photo's) in Black and White!!  Here is what I submitted for this week.  This page is my Gramma and Grampa when they were young.  I love this photo of them... they just look so young and wonderful!  Such a beautiful couple although I may be just a little biased!

The title is french... It's my first language and since my gramma does not speak any english I thought I would right a title that she would understand Douce Mémoire is Soft Memory or Delicate Memory.  My grampa passed away when I was 3... I really wish I could have known him, from all the stories that I've heard about him I sure would have loved to have had that opportunity!

Well thanks for stopping by and I hope that you will paly with us this week!

Happy Heartfelt Wednesday!!

Good morning!  Well we are half way through another week!  I'm looking forward to the weekend and getting ready for next week when we get to show you the new releases for September!  I am so excited about this one and I am sure that you will be too!  I can't beleive I've been blessed to be part of this wonderful design team for almost 6 months already!  Time sure flies when you are having fun... If you are interested in being part of the best team EVER, check out the HC blog for details on how to apply!

Here are my projects for this week.  As always details with a step by step for these projects are available on the Heartfelt Creations blog along with all the GORGEOUS projects created by my teamates, make sure you check them out!

First off let me show you the card that I made!   I love the way this one came out, it is definitely shabby chic, at least I believe it is!  The papers are from Basic Gray that I was hording for a while.  The candle was made with the same sheet of paper!  I love making the most out of my pattern paper especially when it is so pretty!  I colored the image with my copic markers but I really wanted the ring to be gold and I didn't have the right copics for that so I chose the color in my ring with my favorite gold pen!  The diamond is really glittery in real life thanks to stickles!  I used my edge distresser along all the edges and then crumpled the edges of the papers to give a truly distressed look.

The candle was a little more complicated to make... I was learning about image transfers in my Art Journaling class and I started thinking on how I cool it would be to use that technique on something other than my journal!  I just love learning new techniques and I love trying to expand on what I learn.  I decided that I could do it on a candle.  My first attempt failed miserably.  I applied the glue added my paper, waited patiently for the glue to dry, then when I started tearing off the paper it just pulled all off!  I racked my brain... not being one to give up so quickly I thought that maybe there needed to be something for the glue to hold on to.  The candle is just to slick!  I scuffed up the whole candle using a needle and then tried again... well that worked and I love the way it looks!  Definitely shabby and oh so pretty!  Make sure if you try this that you rub away the paper very gently so you get the best coverage on the candle and watch out for air bubbles in the Mod Podge but other then that it is so easy... once you know what you are doing ;)

I decided to add the belly band to the candle with a little tag.  Here is a close up of the tag... I will definitely be creating more of these candles.  I love that I can make them match whatever I want!  A fun and easy gift idea.

Well with that thanks for looking and I hope the rest of your week flies by!  Don't forget to see what the rest of the team came up with this week here.  I am playing along with a few challenges this week, there is always so much inspiration on the various challenge blogs I just wish I had even more time to play but unfortunately I have to keep my day job... When I win the lottery... I will spend my days playing with papers in beautiful scraproom of my new mansion... when I'm not lounging by the huge pool, LOL, I know I have a vivid imagination!

Lasting Memories

Good morning everyone!

I am so excited to share this news with all of you!!  If you already follow my blog then you have probably noticed that I've been playing along with the current challenges over at Lasting Memories this month... well!  Karen selected me... ME... as a member of her super talented Design team for this term!  I still can't beleive it!  I am beyond excited!  The weekly challenges are posted each and every Sunday!  I love that there are a wide variety of challenges (sketches, color combo's, themes... and so much more) to help you to think outside of the box and hopefully to take you out of your comfort zone!  I hope that you will come on over and play along with us!

So now on to this week's challenge!! This week, it's all about "Simply You" ... can be your style, you personally, something you love .. just "Simply You". Super easy, super fun!!!  It is also a great way to get to know a bit about the design team and a great way for us to get to know all of you!!  For my first challenge I am sharing this layout that I create of me and my baby girl... this picture was taken last year, it is weird to look at a picture of me with the weight still on... I never took to many pictures of myself at that time.  I'm much more likely to step infront of the camera these days although I always seem to be standing behind the camera anyways.

My mom took this picture of us while we were on a picture hunt around the local river.  One of my favorite things to do besides playing with my papers is to go out on excursions with my daughter and my camera... it is so relaxing.  The papers are from The Girls Paperie, lots of fussy cutting on this page!

Well I hope you will join us over at Lasting Memories and let us get to know you!  Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing your takes on our current challenge!!
